Hardin Happy Hustlers

Hardin Happy Hustlers held their November meeting at Clover Hall on Sunday, Nov. 8 . A potluck dinner, installation of officers and new member recognition were on the agenda.

This year’s officers are Jared Marshall, president; Lucas Fisher, vice president; Ben Bravard, secretary; Nick Killion, treasurer; and Izzy Bravard, activities director. Marshall had attended the 4-H Awards Day earlier in the day and shared that the Hardin Happy Hustlers won the herdsmanship award from the 2015 Greene County Fair. A certificate was presented to the Hardin Happy Hustlers for first place.

New members being recognized were Caden Telleen, Brooklyn Olson, Abby Kozal and Trey Schilling.

The following reminders were presented to the club; 4-H re-enrollment is due Nov. 16, beef weigh in is Dec. 13 starting at 1 pm. New this year is the requirement of attending at least one livestock project meeting in order to show at the fair. This includes beef, swine, and sheep. The first beef meeting is at the Extension office on Dec. 5. The leaders spoke about requirements and schedules for the upcoming year. Each member was given a folder to keep track of meeting date and responsibilities for each meeting throughout the year.HHH 4-H club installation

The Hardin Happy Hustlers held their December meeting at the Extension office on Sunday, Dec. 6. Three new members attended this meeting; Hannah Curtis, Grace Curtis and Gabe Ebersole. Hardin Happy Hustlers welcomed them.

The club discussed/voted on a fun activity to do as a group for the January meeting. HHH voted to spend a fun afternoon at Hidden Acres in Dayton. Izzy Bravard volunteered to contact Hidden Acres and inquire if January 10 was available.

Reminders were given: Enrolling/re-enrolling for 2015-16, beef meeting Dec. 6 at 4 pm, beef weigh-in on Dec. 13 and helping with Adopt-A-Family on Dec 17.

Presentations were then given by the following: Tori Tucker, roles/responsibilities of being a CNA (certified nursing assistant); Lucas Fisher, fun science experiments; and Jared Marshall, saving the monarch butterfly.

The club had snacks/drinks and then got to work on “Care Packages” for our 2015 graduates of HHH. The club packed Christmas boxes to Molly Hoskins, Tressa Rasmussen and Noelle Gray. Each of them are enrolled in their first year of college at Iowa State University. The club wishes them well during their first finals week at college.

The Hardin Happy Hustlers’ next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 10, from 2 to 4 pm at Hidden Acres in Dayton.
